The classic has been going since 1997 and just keeps getting bigger and better, with almost 2000 anglers taking to the Edward River attempting to hook a winner. Despite the popularity, there’s still plenty of water for everyone with a 40km zone in which to fish and while everyone is trying to entice a Murray Cod onto their line, many are successful. There are also lots of Yellowbelly too.
There’s plenty of accommodation available in Deniliquin over the Fishing Classic weekend, although many entrants choose to camp on the riverbank.

The Deniliquin RSL Fishing Club promotes catch and release during the Classic and throughout the year to ensure there are always lots of fish in the Edward River for visitors. It’s a great weekend and an ideal time to enjoy the magnificent Edward River and maybe go home with a new boat or one of the other fantastic prizes!
